Onboard 3rd party services have never been easy in existing cloud infrastructure, this has been a teething issue both in public and private cloud computing environment. Let us look at onboarding third-party services for the various cloud platform.

This article from OpenStack gives us some indication that onboarding 3rd party services is not really their main focus. OpenStack objective is to provide a cloud platform and third-party onboarding task is pass to the end user. However, there are tools like puppet, chef, and ansible that can be used to help install and configure third-party applications.

To onboard third-party services onto Cloudstack, you need to integrate these services onto Cloudstack portal. This guideline provided by Cloudstack shows that 3rd party vendors not only need to create their own services, they are also responsible to integrate into Cloudstack architecture. This is extra jobs for vendors which might not yield any benefits to them.

Public cloud provider provides does not provide such services, however, they do have template function which allows third-party services providers to provide their services as a template.

Don’t get me wrong, all the cloud platforms mention is a great product. They are designed for addressing a specific problem and they are still evolving. On the other hand, ezStackr are designed to achieve better user experience and simplified cloud experience.
